How to find expired domains using DomCop
How to find high-quality expired domains
DomCop adds around 200,000 domains a day from GoDaddy, DropCatch, NameJet, SnapNames, DynaDot, Sedo, NameSilo, park.io, Flippa and the public drop lists. Telling the good ones from the scammy and low-quality ones is hard by eye, so let the filters do it. Suppose you want every domain with a Domain Authority of at least 29, a Trust Flow of at least 15 and no offer / counter-offer auctions.
Set the right filters
Open the live list, set the Domain Authority slider to 29 to 100 and the Trust Flow slider to 15 to 100, and untick Offer / counter offer in the listing type filter. That leaves only domains that will definitely be sold when bid on. Tick Hide spam warnings to drop names that match spammy keywords or have an unnatural backlink profile.
Check the results
Always look at Moz Domain Authority, Majestic Trust Flow and Ahrefs Domain Rating together. A low value on one of them next to high values on the others means you should check the backlinks by hand to see why. The TF/CF ratio is the quickest spam check: below 0.8 is usually a bad sign.
Narrow the list down
Once you have a list, add more filters: referring domains, age, an upper limit on the price, an extension. Star a domain to add it to your watchlist; click the name to open its detail page with every metric, the backlinks and the Wayback history, and from there the auction or registrar where you can buy it.
How to search for a startup domain
Domains are the real estate of the 21st century and all the good ones are taken, but the good news is that many come back to the pool when the owner does not renew. These domains may have existing backlinks, rank for keywords and still get organic traffic, which is valuable for a startup looking for a name that already has some authority.
Set the search parameters
Enter keywords related to your product or niche in the keyword search box, untick Allow dashes and Allow digits, keep only .com in the extension filter and untick Offer / counter offer.
Check the results
Look at Domain Authority and Citation Flow as well as Trust Flow; a low DA or CF means the domain needs more research. Set a lower limit on Trust Flow and an upper limit on the price to narrow the list, and star the names you like.
How to set up and use saved searches
Run any search, for example every domain with a Domain Authority of at least 30 and a Trust Flow of at least 15. Click Save search, enter a name and choose Daily email if you want the new matches mailed to you every day (one email covers all your searches). To run a saved search later, pick it from the saved searches menu at the top of the page; the saved searches page lets you rename, group, edit and delete them.
How to customise columns
Open Columns above the results table. The left-hand list holds the metrics currently shown, the others hold everything else; drag a metric between the lists to show or hide it, and drag within the left list to change the order. Click Save; Reset restores the default layout. Each list (live, expired, archive, watchlist) can have its own layout, and your layout is also used in exports and digest mails unless you switch that off on the account page.
How to export data
Run a search, then click Export in the toolbar. Choose the separator (comma, tab or semicolon) and whether to use your custom columns or every column. Tick Send by email if you want a link when the file is ready. Exports are prepared in the background and listed on the exports page, where you download the compressed file. Files are kept for 30 days, so download them within that time.
